| Game shares ARC experience with European retailers at the 5th Annual Retail by Design Conference |
| 17-Apr- 2008 Bangalore | India Manthan Systems recently participated in the 5th Annual Retail by Design Conference by DigiPoS. This premier invitation-only event delivered insight, to retailers from across Europe, into the issues and trends that are shaping the present and determining the future of retail. The event was attended by representatives from many of UK's leading retailers including NEXT, Dunelm, Burberrys and Costcutter, and a comprehensive range of speakers. Since retail is going through fundamental change, retailers need to ensure they are not merely technology enabled - but in fact technology driven. Technology is now proving to be a direct contributor to bottom line performance as an unprecedented level of information and connectivity continue to deliver challenges and opportunities to the sector. Technology, being the key, and several other issues related to retailing were examined at the conference. Mr. Richard Kent, IT Director, Game Group Plc. and Mr. Kiran Choubina, Head of Sales - UK Manthan Systems, together presented a case study in a session under the theme 'Data. Data. Data.'. Game has a dynamic business in a dynamic market that has grown both organically and through acquisition." This has led to several complexities in achieving timely and accurate information. The presentation covered the BI challenges at Game and issues pertaining to data availability, integrity, performance and accessibility. Game decided to overcome these challenges by deploying a BI system that provides single version of truth to the management, tightly integrates the core ERP systems and helps to improve internal business processes. The deployment of ARC helped Game manage data integrity and inconsistency issues. The standard retail specific KPIs of ARC enabled them to meet their analytical needs without much customization. In addition to it the retail focus of the product has helped flexibly absorb new acquisitions and develop best practices across the group. The conference helped retailers discover that they have within their grasp the key to significant improvements in profitability. However, the information they own needs to be accessed, efficiently and economically. Retailers can now look forward to unlocking the often hidden jewels of their business. |
